ABRAR AHMAD – MANAGING PARTNER
Abrar Ahmad, Managing Partner at Travel Capitalist Ventures since 2010, has led investments in 6 countries with 5-person travel startups to 300-person, $100M per year travel companies. He also leads the firm’s co-investor relationships with leading sovereign wealth and global PE funds. With over 15 years in the travel industry, he is an expert in identifying travel trends to leverage discerning companies to invest in and tactically shaping a company’s expansion strategy.
He is a well-known, sought after speaker on emerging travel and technology trends, travel monetization and growth strategies, and travel-focused investments. He has spoken at numerous international events, including The Economist Magazine’s “Future of Travel Summit” in Madrid; the IATA World Passenger Symposium; Singapore’s Web in Travel, the largest travel conference in Asia; at Dubai Tech Nights, the leading technology group in the UAE; and, at in5 Innovation Hub, a leading Dubai incubator. He has also lectured on entrepreneurship to the graduating MBA classes of both Tulane University and Loyola University in the United States.

In December 2016, Abrar was selected to be a judge a the Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) Demo Day. QBIC provides resources to entrepreneurs to help them begin and grow companies by helping them incubate ideas, develop their businesses, network,and invest. QBIC is one of the largest specialized mixed-use business incubators in the MENA region.
Abrar has spent over 15 years in the travel trade, fueling 20 investments in 6 international travel markets and is a sought-after speaker on emerging travel and technology trends.
ABDULLA KHALID – PARTNER
Abdulla Khalid, a Partner with Travel Capitalist Ventures, heads up the firm’s Doha office. He is an internationally-educated investor who has held leadership positions in multi-billion dollar international investments, risk management, and strategic planning.
Mr. Khalid spent 15 years in various Qatari government positions (including as a former Air Force pilot) and was responsible for strategic planning at the highest levels within Qatar. He’s been the head of foreign investments for The Shawish Group, a leading Doha group of companies, where he led investments in over 10 countries and 6 asset classes generating audited double-digit ROIs. He’s also co-invested in funds, equities, currencies, materials, bonds, and stocks with a leading Swiss bank.
Abdulla is also the CEO and Founder of NBI Investments, a Doha-based early-stage investment firm where he sits on the Advisory Board for Content Market (run by former Virgin Charter CEO Scott Duffy).
He is a graduate of the Royal Academy at Sandhurst, in addition to receiving a bachelor’s degree in System Engineering from the University of Manchester.

GLEN WARD – PARTNER
Glen Ward, a Partner at Travel Capitalist Ventures, is a UK-based lawyer with more than 30 years of varied international management experience in entertainment, retail, and consumer electronics. He has specialized in formulating strategic plans and building teams to capture new business opportunities.
From 1998 to 2005, Glen worked for Sir Richard Branson, launching the Virgin Megastore Online worldwide before becoming CEO of Virgin Entertainment Group, North America, overseeing Megastore operations that generated $250 million in annual revenues.
Most recently, Glen co-founded LP33 Asia, a media and technology operation based in Beijing and Los Angeles, facilitating the acquisition and distribution of domestic and international media via the “triple-screen”platforms of web, mobile and IPTV. Previously, Glen was CEO of Zumbox, the world’s first paperless postal services that uses street addresses online.
Glen was also co-CEO of HEADPLAY International, responsible for the launch of two groundbreaking technology solutions in North America, China and Europe: The Personal Cinema System, a portable visual headset and multi-media center, and Freefall, a content compression technology.
Glen spent much of the 1990s as Senior Vice President of Business Development for HMV Media Group, the largest music and entertainment retailer in Europe. As General Manager, he played an integral role in developing and launching MMV Direct, a mail order and internet business servicing the “lapsed buyer” market for music, video and games, successfully launching the firs online service for purchasing entertainment product and content, fully two months prior to Amazon.

CHRISTOPHER GREER – PARTNER
Christopher Greer, a Partner at Travel Capitalist Ventures, has closed more than 25 direct investments in the healthcare, real estate, telecom, financial services, technology, media, energy, and general industrial sectors. The form of these investments has spanned real estate development, LBOs, PIPEs, VC, and going private transactions.
From a travel tech perspective, Mr. Greer brings an abundance of relevant experience to Travel Capitalist Ventures from transactions involving or co-investing in Expedia, MapQuest, Preview Travel and C-Trip, among others.
Currently, Mr. Greer is the Chief Investment Office and co-Managing Partner of GAIA Capital. Until March of 2011, Mr. Greer served as the CEO of New Ventures and Investments for AMER Group, a publicly-traded company, based in Egypt, and managed the AMER family emerging markets public equity portfolio. Previously, Mr. Greer was the Fund Manager and Managing Director, establishing and managing Duke Capital commercial real estate funds internationally.
Further enhancing Mr. Greer’s investment experience, he has gained extensive transactional experience, as both an investment banker and a lawyer, respectively, at firms such as Morgan Stanley and Sullivan & Cromwell. Mr. Greer was the Global Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Robertson Stephens. The experience gleaned from these positions aggregated to consummating more than 300 M&A, IPO, private placement, and other financing transactions on behalf of clients with a combined deal value in excess of US$250 billion. These transactions encompass more than 32 different jurisdictions on a global basis, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Morocco, and Turkey.
Mr. Greer previously maintained the CFTC Series 7, 24 and 63 qualifications and is a Member of the New York State Bar. He holds a BA in Economics from Trinity University and attended the Walter Haas School Of Business at the University Of California-Berkeley and Boalt Hall School Of Law, Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School, respectively, in respect of his JD and MBA degrees.
