ABRAR AHMAD – FOUNDING PARTNER

Founding Partner at Travel Capitalist Ventures, Mr. Ahmad has led investments in 7 countries (USA, Qatar, UAE, India, S Africa, Brazil, Turkey) in 5-person travel startups to $100M revenue per year travel companies.

Mr. Ahmad brings 15 years in the travel industry as former CIO of a 50-person travel technology company (consolidator booking engine, OTA white labels, GDS connectivity), founder of a boutique B2C online travel agency and corporate travel agency he exited in 2008. Most as an investor identifying travel trends to discern travel companies to invest in for Travel Capitalist Ventures.  

Mr. Ahmad is on the Board of Voopter with Global Founders head O. Samwer, on the Advisory Board of Indjets (Jetsmart India) with leading travel investor Skyreach Ventures and leads the Firms capital relationships with sovereign wealth funds, co-investors, family offices and LP’s.

He has spoken at numerous international events such as The Economist Magazine’s “Future of Travel Summit” in Madrid, multiple IATA World Passenger Symposiums, at SITA Innovation Day to name a few. Mr. Ahmad can also be found in SKIFT, Tnooz, Web in Travel, Travel Weekly, Bloomberg, Peninsula News (QR), Arabian Business and other business and participated in multiple demo days, startup competitions and hack-a-thons.

GLEN WARD – PARTNER

Glen Ward, a Partner at Travel Capitalist Ventures, is a UK-based lawyer with more than 30 years of varied international management experience in entertainment, retail, and consumer electronics. He has specialized in formulating strategic plans and building teams to capture new business opportunities.

From 1998 to 2005, Glen worked for Sir Richard Branson, launching the Virgin Megastore Online worldwide before becoming CEO of Virgin Entertainment Group, North America, overseeing Megastore operations that generated $250 million in annual revenues.

Most recently, Glen co-founded LP33 Asia, a media and technology operation based in Beijing and Los Angeles, facilitating the acquisition and distribution of domestic and international media via the “triple-screen”platforms of web, mobile and IPTV. Previously, Glen was CEO of Zumbox, the world’s first paperless postal services that uses street addresses online.

Glen was also co-CEO of HEADPLAY International, responsible for the launch of two groundbreaking technology solutions in North America, China and Europe: The Personal Cinema System, a portable visual headset and multi-media center, and Freefall, a content compression technology.

Glen spent much of the 1990s as Senior Vice President of Business Development for HMV Media Group, the largest music and entertainment retailer in Europe. As General Manager, he played an integral role in developing and launching MMV Direct, a mail order and internet business servicing the “lapsed buyer” market for music, video and games, successfully launching the firs online service for purchasing entertainment product and content, fully two months prior to Amazon.

Glen Ward is a lawyer who specializes in formulating strategic plans and building teams to capture new business opportunities.

The Private Equity Team seeks to make invests of $30M – $100M USD (or equivalent). 
The Venture Capital Team seeks to make equity investments in the range of USD 500k USD to USD $25M; typically in at or after product-market fit. 

Our geographic focus covers UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, India, Pakistan, Turkey, and Africa (North and Sub-Saharan) or other geographies with a Tier 1 co-investor.
